Animals - Pigs and Chickens
Many families have at least one pig. The pig is cared for and grown to provide food when a celebration is held. This could be a marriage, first birthday party, 21st birthday party or something else important to the family. The pig needs to be big enough for the size of the gathering required and shows status in the community.
I was able to give my neighbour leftover food for her pig that was not refrigerated early enough for us to eat. Apparently extra food never goes to waste if there is a piggy nearby. We have two or three very close.
Chickens are kept for eggs but often free range around common spaces. The many roosters seem to be more free and crow from very early in the morning often during the day and sometimes at dusk. Eggs can be purchased relatively cheap at local suppliers.I was told not to buy imported eggs they will be no good. There is a lot of imported chicken meat, frozen packs of drumsticks are readily available.
