Orientation and culture
I was surprised by the size of the WWII guns left by the Japanese and how this has impacted the country from the war and beyond. There is a noticeable Japanese presence in some areas and a school built as part of war reparations.
The museum has interesting items such as shark tooth spears and clubs that show how fierce the local warriors of the past were. They hand built canoes that were used to fish and travel the islands with.
There is a strong New Zealand and Australian presence and a significant Chinese presence. The Chinese government buildings are the only ones with razor wires on top of their fences. There are cameras and security staff present at many locations. Parking is an issue everywhere.
